Emerge at William Harvey Hospital

Our youth workers provide short term support for young people aged between 10-25 years who find themselves in A&E because they are struggling with self-harm or feeling suicidal.

Emerge runs a project at William Harvey Hospital.

At William Harvey our Youth Workers are available Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1-3pm and Wednesday evenings between 7-11pm to come and be with you during your admission.

Have you recently attended A&E due to self-harm, suicidal ideation or emotional crisis? Want someone to speak to?

We are now taking referrals for our follow up support.

You can call us, or ask someone else to call us on your behalf, to chat about how we can support you.

Hi, my name is Steph, and I am the Project Lead for Emerge based at William Harvey Hospital. I have a passion for helping young people find the confidence to believe in themselves. I live in Maidstone with my husband and love spending time with family and friends. Somehow, we have been adopted by a local & very friendly cat! Outside of Emerge, I work as part of Maidstone Street Pastors.

Hi there, I’m Matthew, Youth Support Worker for the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, Kent. I have a strong desire to help inspire young people to engage with the world that they live and work in to their fullest capacity. I had previously spent over 20 years working in microbiology labs for food and pharmaceutical production companies. I also Pastor a little church in Ashford, which looks to serve the local community the best we can.

I live in Ashford, married to a wonderful woman called Sheryl and have had the pleasure of being a father to what are now three adult children. We also have a mischievous, yet very amiable cat, who seems to like too many fights!

If you are in hospital and would like to access this support, or if you are a parent or professional asking on behalf of a young person…

We are not a crisis line. If You need immediate support in a crisis moment, please call 999 or go to your nearest Hospital A&E
