Emerge at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

Our youth workers provide short term support for young people aged between 10-25 years who find themselves in A&E because they are struggling with self-harm or feeling suicidal.

Emerge runs a project at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital.

At the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother we’re open 12-3pm on Mondays and Thursdays, and 7-11pm on Wednesdays to come and be with you during your admission.

Have you recently attended A&E due to self-harm, suicidal ideation or emotional crisis? Want someone to speak to? We are now taking referrals for follow-up support.

You can call us, or ask someone else to call us on your behalf. We can chat about how we can support you.

Meet the Team

Hello, I’m Rebecca, Project Lead for Emerge at the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital in East Kent. I enjoy coming alongside young people and being there to support them. This may be just chatting, playing games and getting to know them or listening to their challenges and giving encouragement or more practical support. I love singing, listening to music and meeting people from all walks of life. I am a private foster carer, I have enjoyed doing this since the year 2000, supporting children and young adults from various backgrounds and empowering them to be effective and efficient, making a difference in their community.

Hi I’m Molly, a youth support worker at QEQM! Having recently joined Emerge, I am really excited to be involved and it is a privalege to be able to come alongside young people and support them in their most difficult moments. My own experiences with poor mental health have given me a real passion to support others and to show young people they are valued and that there is hope.

In my spare time you’ll find me behind the lens of a camera filming weddings, hanging out with friends (even better if brunch is involved) or having fun with my niece. I hold a qualification in Mental Health First Aid.

Hi, I’m Georgina, I work as a Youth Support Worker in the QEQM team. I’ve been in youth work in various capacities for many years and enjoy coming alongside young people, listening, chatting and supporting them. I often bring along games and crafty activities which we can do whilst we chat. In my spare time I like kayaking, woodwork and trying my hand at new crafts.

Georgina is also a qualified teacher and a coach.
