Meet the Team

Abby
Abby
Hi I’m Abby, project lead for East Surrey Hospital. I love working with young people and helping them in their struggles, the opportunity to be in hospital with them is so incredible! Spending time with young people and letting them know their value is so important. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, exploring new places, music (listening and playing), reading and the occasional run!

Abby has been a youth worker for 5 years and in a voluntary capacity before that. She has a BA (Hons) in Theology, Ministry and Mission. She is also our Surrey Area Manager.

Hi, I’m Jackie. I’m a sessional youth worker at East Surrey Hospital Project. I’m passionate about all that Emerge does to help young people to find hope and peace in a difficult time of their lives. I have had the privilege of working alongside children, youth and adults in Africa and in England, as they discover how precious and valuable they are. I love to see eyes light up as someone realises that they are loved and accepted just as they are and as they learn that they can do it!

In my spare time I love reading, walking in nature with my rescue dog from Uganda, singing, painting and writing. I wish I loved housework just as much!

Hello, I’m Nic. I’m a youth support worker at East Surrey Hospital.
I love working for Emerge. It is a special organisation with wonderful caring people, full of great ideas that empower and inspire others. It allows everyone the freedom to be themselves and find out who they have been made to be.
I love being part of the team connecting with young people, making them feel heard and helping them to see their true value.
As a Mum of 4, it’s good that I enjoy cooking! It’s my happy place. However, I’m not a great fan of housework. I would much prefer to be in the middle of a creative mess trying out some craft inspiration I have discovered online. Jewellery making with polymer clay is my latest passion – go and have a look. It’s amazing!
Helen
Helen
I’m Helen, married and a mum to 2 boys and owner of a mad yellow labrador.

As a Youth support worker, I feel so privileged to be part of Emerge which enables us to come alongside young people when they are experiencing a challenging time. To offer hope & encouragement and make every person feel seen & heard and know that they are loved and valued is such a wonderful gift to give. As a lover of games, quizzes & puzzles, I hadn’t realised that I would get a chance to do some if not all of these with a young person when at work, what a bonus!

My background is in working for the NHS as a nurse. For the past 6 years I have worked for a church and part of that involved coming alongside people in the criminal justice system. In my spare time I love to spend time with family and friends, cooking and entertaining, being by the sea (and swimming in it if it’s not too cold) and walking our dog.
